You connect your team.

With the hosted Hub, allow about one hour once accounts are active (estimate).

  1. Activate your accountsArrange satellite airtime and hosted or self-hosted Hub access.
  2. Connect your teamPair Android or match your radio settings, then configure your recipient and return route.
  3. Send a message and a replyCheck both directions under open sky before heading out.

For hosted Hub customers, we'll guide you by email through setup until you've sent a message and received a reply. Email us.

Setup time, detailed instructions and service terms

Your airtime account, radio settings and message routing are yours to configure.

With the hosted MeshSat Hub, allow around one hour of hands-on setup once your accounts and services are active (estimate). Account approval, service activation and waiting for support replies are additional.

Paid hourly consultancy support is available for self-hosted Hub instances. The one-hour setup estimate applies only to the hosted Hub.

One organizer handles the accounts and routes. A contact receiving and replying by SMS does not need to set up the Hub.

This is an advanced setup with several steps: connect your service accounts, choose your routes and configure your radios.

You can use the hosted MeshSat Hub. You do not need to run a server.

Email hello@meshsat.net with your radio models, phone and intended recipient. The unit comes with instructions; the guides beside each step cover the accounts and connections. Ground Control handles airtime activation and billing.

See how your choices affect privacy.

  1. Organizer: activate airtime and Hub access

Activate the MSC-2 modem on a Ground Control IMT plan and request a hosted Hub account. Hub access is reviewed; an e-mail tells you when it is active. Arrange these before your trip.

Airtime plans · Hub signup and plans
  2. Organizer: connect the accounts and recipient

In Hub Settings, add credentials from Cloudloop, Ground Control's satellite-service portal. Copy the Hub's incoming-message URL into Cloudloop and register your MSC-2.

For SMS or email, connect your own service account and configure both directions: satellite to your contact, and their replies back to your gateway. If you choose encryption, configure compatible clients and keys at both ends. For the browser option, give your contact Hub access as an operator.

  3. Connect your phone or mesh radios

For the app path, pair MeshSat Android with MSC-2 over Bluetooth. For the mesh path, match your team's radio, region and channel settings and select the channel MSC-2 routes.

Android pairing guide · Radio settings · Phone support
  4. Together: confirm a message and a reply

Take MSC-2 outside with a clear view of the sky. Send a short check-in. Your contact reads it in the chosen client and sends a reply. Check that the reply reaches your radio or app and that your chosen encryption settings work in both directions.

    Follow the example conversation

Hosted Hub access is a separate service. Its free plan allows four registered devices and bridges combined, not four people. Paid plans cover larger registered fleets; airtime remains separate on every plan. Check the current limits.

Assembled in the Netherlands. EU shipping expected December 2026 to January 2027. Source files and conformity documents.

03 / Beyond the local mesh

Keep your mesh.
Add a way beyond it.

Your team uses its radios or the MeshSat app. Your contact at home can reply through a configured SMS or email channel. You choose the clients, routes and encryption settings.

Example: a reply in a regular SMS inbox

Mesh to SMS / example01 / 03
From a mesh radio to an SMS conversation at homeIllustrated route: a team radio sends through MSC-2 and Iridium to the Hub, which forwards the text by SMS. A configured return route carries the SMS reply to the mesh. The mesh satellite exchange was proven on the earlier 9603 node; MSC-2 has passed the mesh-to-modem bench step.

You: “Basecamp reached. All well.”

Send on your configured Meshtastic channel. MSC-2 routes the selected message into its satellite modem without a phone. Compatible radio settings and a usable mesh path are required.

SMS, email, browser replies and encryption

At home: choose your inbox.

For SMS without client-side encryption, your contact uses their usual text-message app. They need mobile service, but no MeshSat account, MeshSat app or satellite device. SMS service and usage are billed separately.

PGP email is another Hub channel for messages and replies.

Or use the Hub in a browser.

Your contact needs internet access and their own MeshSat ID with access to your Hub account.

Choose how your conversation is protected.

Connecting SMS, email and browser replies

SMS and email services

The organizer connects a reply-capable SMS service to the Hub and sets the recipient and return route.

For email, connect your own email provider's sending credentials and incoming-email webhook. For encrypted SMS or email, use compatible clients and keys at both ends.

Browser access and replies

An owner or operator can send replies; a viewer can only read. Team access is available within the free plan's registration limit.

Open Messages at hub.meshsat.net. In the Send panel, choose Satellite device, select your MSC-2, type the reply and press Send over satellite. It waits for a satellite session before returning to the field. See the Hub screen and instructions.

The example budget and provider terms

Calculated first-year subtotal: €1.379,02. Hardware €1.111 plus about €268,02 for a year of satellite service, reusing existing radios with no overage.

One gateway is registered in the Hub. People and local team radios do not each need a Hub registration for this example.

The hardware uses the launch price. The airtime example assumes a full year on Ground Control's representative 50 KB monthly IMT plan, with no overage.

Provider terms checked 24 October 2026: minimum 3 months (about €67,01 before tax), about €0,45 per additional KB, with minimum billable session sizes. Data allowance is not a fixed message count. Actual usage depends on payloads, routing and sessions. Confirm the current offer with Ground Control; Hub plan terms apply separately.

Euro estimates use the ECB reference rate of 23 October 2026. Ground Control bills in US dollars; your final euro cost depends on the payment exchange rate and fees.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

More questions?
hello@meshsat.net

Can I buy one now?

Pre-orders are not open yet. Join the launch list and confirm your e-mail address to receive the opening alert. Signing up does not place an order or reserve a unit.

Does the price include satellite service?

No. The launch price covers the hardware package. Satellite airtime is purchased separately from Ground Control. Access fees and usage depend on the plan you choose.

How will pre-orders work?

A pre-order takes a deposit of at most 50%. The balance is invoiced before dispatch. You may cancel before dispatch; the deposit is refunded within 14 days. Shipping costs and the delivery estimate for your country are shown before you pay. Read the terms.

Do I need to run a server or pay for the Hub?

You can use the hosted MeshSat Hub without running a server. Accounts require approval. Its free plan allows four registered devices and bridges combined; larger fleets can choose a paid plan. The Hub does not include satellite airtime. See the setup checklist and current Hub plans.

What should I budget beyond the gateway?

Allow for satellite service, any additional radios, shipping and any provider activation or usage fees. Add your SMS or email provider's charges if you choose those channels. Hub charges depend on the registered fleet. See a worked first-year example; your provider's current quote determines the service bill.

Will it work with my Meshtastic radio?

The design is for compatible radios on the configured mesh, using matching radio and channel settings. It does not automatically bridge every radio within range.

Can I use the Android or iOS app?

Get MeshSat on Google Play or the App Store. The apps provide Bluetooth setup and a messaging interface for supported nodes. Android sent and received satellite messages through MSC-2 unit 0001 on 24 October. The iOS satellite evidence uses the earlier 9603 node; it does not establish MSC-2 compatibility. See current platform support.

Can it operate without a phone?

Yes, the design includes a standalone path for configured mesh messages. That mesh-to-modem route has bench evidence. App-led messaging uses a paired phone. See the test status for the complete unit.

Is it waterproof?

Built for rain with O-ring seals and a membrane vent. It has no IP rating, so don't submerge it.

How long does the battery last?

About a day with the mesh radio, Bluetooth and the satellite modem on standby (our estimate). Each satellite message uses about a minute of it.

MSC-2 is a prototype. Message delivery depends on active airtime, usable radio links and configured routes. MSC-2 is not an emergency service or distress device. The quick-message button is unmonitored and no rescue service is included.
